She has always been a downtown girl, that Sylvia. Consumerism worked well on her. At the age of 14 she was barely able to distinguish lettuce from spinach, and she assumed pineapple grew on trees.
Then a Sunday to visit some cousin-of the friend-of grandma’s brother in law. Not really someone she ever heard of.
We’re going to the countryside, her father said.
Quite generic. He did not even care that much himself.
She remembered that joke her aunt made once about peasants and dirty underpants. She was sure a little snigger will appear on her face when shaking those people’s hands.
